Palma - Expanding Our Med' Operation
Global Services has supplied spare parts and equipment, everything from teaspoons to tenders, to yachts all over the world for nearly twenty years. This month we're putting a team on the ground in Palma’s STP Shipyard in response to customer requests for a physical presence in the Western Mediterranean and we're teaming up with local businessman Spike Thomson from West Med Marine to do just that.
Managing Director Neil Northmore comments, ‘Global Services is pleased to be working more closely with Spike Thompson. Palma is an important centre for transiting yachts and the superyacht industry. Strengthening our local connections will enable us to deliver an even more personalised service to our customers and will improve our working relations with local businesses’.
This initiative puts us at the heart of the Mediterranean superyacht industry. West Med Marine owner Spike elaborates, ‘The Global Services business model of sourcing supplies from around the world at the best prices and consolidating, shipping or storing supplies as needed, is a very efficient and economic system. The benefits are passed on to the clients. Having Global Services on the Island will ultimately give superyacht crew a more cost efficient choice when it comes to procurement’.
The base in Palma isn’t just a shipping hub; it’s a place for crew to pop in and get some advice. Great service and competitive pricing remain our mantra but with the benefits of local knowledge and a team on the ground. Spike adds, ‘Yachts visiting or basing in Palma can take advantage of all the West Med Marine added concierge services; everything from berthing, legal services, shipping, storage to jet or heli charter, specialised cleaning and bunkering. If you need it, we will find it! We really are making life simple’.
